Making Connections
There are many voices demanding our attention: other people, the television, the newspaper, and so on. God tells us that what is really important is listening to Jesus. Activity Play the Telephone Game. Everyone sits in a line, either in chairs or on the floor. The first person in line whispers something short into the next person's ear. That person then whispers it to the next person in line, and so on untill the last person has heard the sentence. The last person in line stands up and says the sentence out loud. Usually, what he or she says isn't even close to the origional sentence, which has changed in strange-and often funny-ways. Play some more rounds of the game if you have time, each time letting another person whisper the beginning sentence. It's an enjoyable way of coming to appreciate the importance of listening. You may want to talk about ways members of the family try to listen to Jesus. Memory Verse: This is my Son. Listen to what he says! (Mark 9:7) |
Closing Prayer: After the game, pray together:
Jesus, Amen. |
